A HISTORY OF THE SHOP
You may look at these photos and think, “Yikes. The 80s,” but we’ll have you know, we were very hot in the 80s!
We’ve been doing this luxury retail thing for a long time now, and we’ve learned a thing or two about fit and fashion along the way.
We opened the first Onore Clothing location in Bergen County, New Jersey in 1984, when shoulder pads were still a thing and people wore suits to work every day. “We” is Richard and Edna Cintron, by the way. We’ve been married for 40+ years and we’ve been building businesses together for just as long. So back to Onore - we operated out of the Mall at IV for 15 years and then the Riverside Square Mall for another 17 years, catering to a clientele that included the NY Giants, players from the Yankees and NY Knicks, Ben E. King, Eddie Murphy, Tito Nieves, Ray Goodman, Stanley Turentine and more. Indeed, it was just as awesome as it sounds.
As the world around us changed and the workplace put different demands on their employees, we opted to close our doors briefly in the 2000s. Fair warning, we can’t stand the yoga pants at work trend so the closed doors didn’t last long and we re-opened Onore here in Sparta, NJ in October of 2013.
We started with a humble 1,200 square feet of space in downtown Lake Mohawk, then we expanded to 2,700 and now we boast a team of clothiers, stylists and expert tailors across 5,000 square feet and two floors of the building at 21 White Deer. We are beyond grateful for the community that has embraced us so wholly, we beam with pride at the sight of our handiwork at your special occasions, and we intend to keep doing it for as long as you’ll have us.
Our promise to you? We will always welcome you warmly and we’ll never let you go anywhere looking less than wonderful.
We’ll see you in the shop.
